COMMITTEES
Guide Right Committee:
The Guide Right Committee oversees the Guide Right and Kappa League mentoring programs. The committee members plan and execute the curriculum, various trips, and award ceremony. Some recent initiatives have included: Annual camping trip, visit and tour of local colleges, trips to museums, sporting events, Piney Woods boarding school, etc.

Civic Action Committee:
The Civic Action Committee oversees the community service endeavors of the chapter. A few initiatives are longstanding, such as ASA’s annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Distribution Initiative, where the chapter usually partners with a member’s church, to provide families in need with turkeys and all the trimmings for the holiday. Some other initiatives over the years have included: Hospital visit to children during Christmas, Clothing Drives, Adopt-A-Mile, etc.

Social Committee:
The Social Committee oversees the various social initiatives of the chapter. Some of these initiatives are for members only, and some are open to the public. The goal is to bring brothers together socially, and to continue to foster the bond of Kappa. Some past brothers-only initiatives have included: The chapter’s Annual Valentines Sweetheart Affair, where brothers and their significant others meet at a restaurant to celebrate Valentines Day; sports outings, mixers, bowling, picnics Christmas party, etc.
Some recent major social initiatives open to the public have included: A monthly mixer at Barleys Billiards in Atlanta (3rd Fridays), and Annual Kappa Kruise on Stone Mountain Lake.

Scholarship Committee:
The Scholarship Committee oversees the chapter’s awarding of scholarships to college-bound high school students. The committee works with various schools, screens applicants, and decides on the scholarship awardees. In previous years, the chapter has awarded up to five $1000 scholarships to students who were attending various colleges.

Communications Committee:
The Communications Committee was originally commissioned as an ad-hoc committee to produce the Kappa Konnection Directory, Chapter Informational Tri-fold, and to revitalize the chapter’s website. In addition, it also produced the chapter’s newsletter, “ASA Achiever.” This committee also produced several achievement awards packets at Province Council, including “Chapter of the Year.”

Reclamation Committee:
The Reclamation Committee oversees the chapter’s efforts of reclaiming unaffiliated brothers into ASA. It hosts various reclamation-oriented initiatives, such as Reclamation Breakfasts (where unaffiliated brothers eat free and learn about ASA); Monthly Mixer (co-sponsored with Social Committee); Kappa Fitness, partnering with LA Fitness to provide chapter info, and exercise time for brothers and their spouses; and basically any other social and/or community initiative the chapter does that will show the benefit of recommitting to Kappa via ASA.

Beautillion Committee:
This Krimson Community Foundation (KCF) initiative is an extension of the Alpharetta-Smyrna Alumni Chapter’s commitment to community, youth, education, family values, and economic empowerment. Its goal is to aid high-school juniors and seniors in their personal, educational and professional development by providing mentoring, workshops and community service activities. Through a rigorous 8 month program, each participant raises scholarship money for his higher education endeavors. The Beautillion Committee is committed to ensure that ALL participants are awarded funding for their college endeavors.
